Something to read:
Letting books talk to each other
Daydreaming, chit-chat, favors, and wonder: mental "vitamins" we all need
To build a top performing team, ask for 85% effort
The genius of “And how’s that working out for you?”
Something to think about:
“‘The thing to understand about groups,’ the Prophet says, ‘is that cooperating with others triggers high levels of oxytocin in the human brain. Sharing, banding together.… We literally feel better when we’re working together.’”
Something else:
Music plays a big part in my life (it’s half the meaning of The OffBeat), and I love curating a collection of idiosyncratic playlists crafted for very specific use cases. A few examples:
Happy No Lyrics: music to have on in the background when you’re working and looking for an upbeat vibe
Brain Rinse: music to cool down after an intense work day when you feel like you want to take your brain out of your head, rinse it off, and put it back in; I used to listen to this, cranked up super high, on the NYC subway commute home
Hype: music when you need a good psych-up to do something intimidating or something you’re dreading
Team Meetings: music to stream in the background during Zooms while people are logging on and getting situated
To Drum To: fun tracks to play along with on my (new-ish!) electronic set
Have a great week,
Allison
